Manitoba od 1. května povoluje pěstování domácího konopí

Manitoba will permit residents to cultivate cannabis plants at home beginning May 1, 2025. The new legislation allows individuals aged 19 and older to grow up to four cannabis plants per household. This change follows the federal Cannabis Act, which sets the maximum number of plants but permits provinces to impose additional restrictions. Previously, Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative government enacted a ban on home cultivation in 2018, which remained in effect until now despite a court ruling in 2023 that upheld the ban.

With this amendment, Manitoba joins the majority of Canadian provinces that allow home cultivation, while Quebec remains the only province that still prohibits it. The legislation passed earlier this year in June, signaling a shift towards greater personal freedom in cannabis cultivation within the province. This move is expected to increase access to cannabis for personal use and empower residents to grow their own plants.
