The New South Wales (NSW) Government has released a draft Hemp Industry Development Plan, inviting public input until May 19, 2025. This initiative aims to position hemp as a mainstream crop in the region and promote sustainable product development.

The draft plan outlines a vision that includes four key development objectives. These objectives are designed to guide actions and foster collaboration among government, industry, and stakeholders to enhance the growth of the NSW hemp sector. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development emphasized the importance of collective efforts to achieve the goals outlined in the plan.

This initiative is backed by the NSW Hemp Industry Taskforce, formed to identify challenges and opportunities within the industrial hemp market. As the global hemp market continues to expand, the plan highlights specific areas where stakeholders can focus their efforts to leverage local growth opportunities.

Public feedback is essential for refining the draft plan and shaping the future of the hemp industry in NSW. Interested parties can submit their comments online at http://www.nsw.gov.au/have-your-say. The consultation period will conclude on May 19, 2025, allowing ample time for community and industry input.
