Familie aus Belize City wegen Marihuanabesitzes verhaftet

On June 13, 2025, a police operation on Iguana Street in Belize City led to the arrest of a family of six for marijuana possession. The police utilized K-9 Unit dog Axel during the raid, resulting in the discovery of 27 grams of cannabis in the home.

The individuals arrested included 77-year-old Donald Wellington Samuels Sr., his 29-year-old son Donald Wellington Samuels Jr., and four others: Marlon Samuels, 28, Noel Samuels, 25, and Elton Simon, 23. All six family members faced two counts of possession of controlled drugs in court.

During the court proceedings, Donald Wellington Samuels Jr. and Elton Simon entered guilty pleas. Samuels Jr. admitted to possessing 13 grams, while he also acknowledged responsibility for an additional 14 grams. The court imposed fines of $150 each on both men, along with a $5 court cost, which they must pay by June 30, 2025. Failure to meet this deadline will lead to a two-month imprisonment for the possession charge of 13 grams.

This incident marks the second drug possession conviction for Samuels Jr., who faces the same payment deadline for the additional 14 grams. The charges against the other family members were dismissed, allowing them to leave the court without penalties.

The case highlights ongoing law enforcement efforts against marijuana possession in Belize, as authorities continue to address drug-related offenses in the community.
