Ohioaner geben im April fast $80 Millionen für Cannabis aus

Ohioans spent approximately $80 million on cannabis products in April, according to data from the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control. This spending highlights clear preferences among consumers for specific cannabis products.

Analysis of the sales data reveals that flower, vape products, and edibles dominated purchases in the state. Flower, which consists of dried marijuana that can be smoked, accounted for over half of all sales, making up 52% of medical sales and 53% of recreational sales. In total, consumers purchased nearly eight tons of cannabis flower in April alone.

Vape products were particularly popular among recreational users, representing 35% of non-medical sales and 31.5% of medical sales. Edibles also saw robust demand, with medical marijuana patients purchasing them at a higher rate than recreational users. Edibles comprised 14% of medical sales compared to 11% for recreational sales.

The week leading up to April 20 was the most lucrative, with sales exceeding $22 million between April 13 and 19. Edibles were the least expensive product category, with an average price of $17.90, while capsules, lotions, and other products averaged around $32. The average price for an ounce of cannabis in Ohio was $168.52 in April.

Despite the fact that recreational sales only began in August 2023, they now drive the market. Only about 25% of cannabis sales in April were medical, with recreational sales nearing $60 million. Since the start of recreational sales, Ohioans have spent over $2.6 billion on cannabis products. This data illustrates a strong consumer preference for certain types of cannabis, reflecting trends seen in other legalized markets.
