Edible Brands startet Hanf-Lieferservice inmitten des sich entwickelnden Cannabismarktes

Edible Brands, the company known for Edible Arrangements, is entering the cannabis market with a new delivery service focusing on hemp products. On Thursday, the company announced its expansion into selling a variety of hemp edibles, including gummies, drinks, and supplements. These products will be available for delivery through their new website, Edibles.com.

Thomas Winstanley, executive vice president of Edibles.com, emphasized that Edible Brands’ wellness-driven approach is well-suited to the evolving cannabis market. He noted that the company’s robust infrastructure and nationwide presence position them to foster industry growth effectively. Winstanley also mentioned that being part of an organization that values consumer advocacy and innovation will help shape the emerging market.

The hemp market has experienced challenges since the 2018 Farm Bill federally legalized hemp, as some states and Congress have sought to limit the sale of intoxicating cannabinoid products. Currently, Edibles.com is not servicing California due to a recent emergency order that bans hemp-derived products with any THC content. The company stated that it is unable to offer products to California residents at this time, but hinted at future expansion.

In Texas, Edibles.com is launching its hemp delivery service, although this could become complicated if a new bill, recently passed by the state Senate, is enacted. This bill aims to prohibit consumable hemp products that do not exclusively contain non-intoxicating CBD or CBG. Federal law stipulates that hemp is legal as long as it contains no more than 0.3 percent THC by dry weight.

Despite the shifting regulatory landscape, Edible Brands sees significant opportunities. Following Texas, the company plans to expand its services to Florida and Georgia, with certain products available for nationwide shipping depending on state laws. Somia Farid Silber, CEO of Edible Brands, pointed out that the hemp industry is evolving quickly, but consumers still face challenges regarding perception, education, and accessibility. She stated that their goal is to simplify access to premium, vetted hemp products for consumers.

Jake Bullock, CEO of Cann, a cannabis drink company included in Edibles.com’s product offerings, described this move as a defining moment for the hemp industry. He believes that a high-quality marketplace like Edibles.com can significantly reshape the future of THC products and contribute to long-term industry growth.

Additionally, Edible Brands plans to disrupt the brick-and-mortar retail sector with a limited franchising program, starting with a flagship store in Atlanta. This initiative aims to democratize access to the THC industry, which has historically been limited by regulatory barriers.

This announcement follows a recent expansion by DoorDash, which began offering hemp-derived THC and CBD products, including gummies and beverages, in select states.
