Unbezahlte Rechnungen belasten kleine Cannabisunternehmen in New Mexico

In New Mexico, small cannabis businesses are facing significant challenges due to late and unpaid invoices. Taylor Ortiz, who operates a cannabis farm near Belen, reported that her 2024 harvest yielded only about 770 pounds, which was less than expected. The struggle to collect timely payments is affecting many in the industry, highlighting a systemic issue that could threaten their survival.

Jonathan Antonio, the store manager of Amnesia Dispensary in Albuquerque, noted that dispensaries are often the final point in the complex supply chain for cannabis. Each transaction along this path presents an opportunity for unpaid invoices to occur. He emphasized that these financial delays can severely impact operations and lead to cash flow problems for small businesses.

The problem largely stems from regulatory issues that complicate financial transactions within the cannabis industry. Operators involved in growing, extracting, and selling cannabis are frequently different entities, resulting in multiple points where payments must be made. As a result, many small businesses struggle to stay afloat, with delayed payments putting their financial stability at risk.
