Minnesota erteilt Herb Quest die erste Lizenz für ein Cannabisgeschäft

On Wednesday, the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) announced a significant development in the state’s cannabis sector, issuing its first business license to Herb Quest LLC. This microbusiness, located in Brook Park, Pine County, will focus on outdoor cultivation of cannabis plants.

OCM Interim Director Eric Taubel hailed the issuance of the license as a major advancement for both the OCM and Minnesota’s cannabis industry. He noted, “With our first licensed cultivator now able to begin growing plants, and more than 600 businesses nearing the completion of their applications and local government approvals, we are witnessing the initial stages of Minnesota’s adult-use market taking shape.”

In addition to the first license, the OCM is introducing new opportunities for entrepreneurs interested in entering Minnesota’s expanding cannabis market. The office is launching a new round of social equity status verification, a licensing window for cannabis testing facilities, and the first opportunity for cannabis event organizers to secure licenses.

Prospective applicants seeking social equity status can have their status verified from July 7 to July 21. The updated criteria for verification now includes individuals who have received stays of adjudication and adjudications of delinquency. However, it is important to note that social equity verification is not a requirement for obtaining a cannabis business license.

The new licensing window for cannabis testing facilities will open on August 1. Recent changes to state law allow applicants to apply for a license while awaiting accreditation from the International Standards Organization.

Additionally, licenses for cannabis event organizers will also become available on August 1. This license permits holders to plan and host cannabis-related events in Minnesota, provided that the events are limited to attendees aged 21 and older and do not include alcohol sales.

As the cannabis industry in Minnesota continues to develop, these initiatives aim to create a more inclusive and accessible market for all prospective business owners.
