Die Forschung wird durch einen Zuschuss des US-Energieministeriums in H\u00f6he von $5 Millionen unterst\u00fctzt und soll erforschen, wie diese beiden landwirtschaftlichen Praktiken die Bodenqualit\u00e4t und die Produktivit\u00e4t der Pflanzen verbessern k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biokohle, ein Produkt, das aus der teilweisen Verbrennung von organischen Materialien wie Holz und Pflanzenabf\u00e4llen gewonnen wird, verbessert die Bodenstruktur und die F\u00e4higkeit, N\u00e4hrstoffe zu speichern. David Gang, der Projektleiter und Mitarbeiter am Institut f\u00fcr Biologische Chemie der WSU, betont das Potenzial von Biokohle, Kohlenstoff zu speichern und gleichzeitig die Bodengesundheit zu verbessern. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im Rahmen der Studie werden insbesondere verschiedene Kombinationen von Biokohleausbringung und Hanffruchtfolgen untersucht, um deren kombinierte Auswirkungen auf die Anbausysteme im Laufe der Zeit zu ermitteln. An der Studie werden Landwirte der Yakama Nation und des Colville-Reservats sowie Forscher des Pacific Northwest National Laboratory und der Universit\u00e4t von Connecticut beteiligt sein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gang weist darauf hin, dass Biokohle die Bodeneigenschaften erheblich ver\u00e4ndern kann. Wenn sie ausgebracht wird, erh\u00f6ht sie den pH-Wert des Bodens, steigert die Feuchtigkeitsspeicherung und f\u00f6rdert die mikrobielle Aktivit\u00e4t, was wiederum den Pflanzen den Zugang zu wichtigen N\u00e4hrstoffen erleichtert. Ziel der Studie ist es, diese Verbesserungen und ihre Auswirkungen auf die Ernteertr\u00e4ge zu quantifizieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auch Hanf wird bei dieser Forschung eine entscheidende Rolle spielen. Hanf ist f\u00fcr sein tiefes Wurzelsystem bekannt und tr\u00e4gt dazu bei, Bodenerosion zu verhindern, die Bodenstruktur zu verbessern und sch\u00e4dliche Schadstoffe zu entfernen. Gang weist darauf hin, dass Landwirte durch den Anbau von Hanf im Wechsel mit anderen Feldfr\u00fcchten die allgemeine Gesundheit des Bodens verbessern k\u00f6nnen, was zu besseren Ernteergebnissen in den folgenden Anbausaisons f\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Im Rahmen der Forschungsarbeiten werden verschiedene Ausbringungsmengen und -formeln von Biokohle getestet, darunter auch Kombinationen mit Langzeitd\u00fcngern, um optimale Strategien f\u00fcr landwirtschaftliche Verfahren zu finden. Die erwarteten Ergebnisse k\u00f6nnten zu einem geringeren D\u00fcngerbedarf, niedrigeren Kosten und geringeren Umweltauswirkungen f\u00fchren, w\u00e4hrend gleichzeitig hohe Ernteertr\u00e4ge erzielt werden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Arbeiten werden im kommenden Fr\u00fchjahr beginnen, wobei die Forscher Biokohle auf Testfeldern ausbringen werden. Ziel ist es, ein Modell zu schaffen, das die Vorteile der Integration von Hanf und Biokohle in landwirtschaftliche Praktiken aufzeigt, was f\u00fcr die Wiederbelebung gesch\u00e4digter B\u00f6den in Regionen wie dem Colville-Reservat und anderen betroffenen Gebieten von entscheidender Bedeutung sein k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gang hat eine langfristige Vision f\u00fcr diese Arbeit: \"Wir brauchen einen Boden, der uns die M\u00f6glichkeit gibt, uns selbst zu ern\u00e4hren.
