Cresco Labs abrirá el primer dispensario del condado de Belmont en 2026

Belmont County is set to welcome its first marijuana dispensary, operated by Cresco Labs, by early 2026. Located at 435 Main St. in Bridgeport, the new facility will offer both medical and recreational cannabis products.

Cresco Labs aims to begin construction this year following the Bridgeport Village Council’s recent approval of an ordinance allowing the dispensary at the specified site. Currently, the company is finalizing internal plans, including layouts and signage, and will seek necessary permits from the Department of Commerce and local authorities before breaking ground.

The dispensary will feature wellness advisors on-site to assist customers in selecting products tailored to their needs, whether they are first-time users or experienced consumers. These advisors will focus on helping customers find solutions for issues such as stress and anxiety.

Cresco Labs plans to create a welcoming environment, emphasizing professionalism and safety. According to Ficara, a representative from Cresco Labs, the store will resemble the layout of modern retail spaces like Apple Stores, featuring a bright atmosphere and a focus on customer service. Security measures will include ID checks and controlled access to ensure a safe shopping experience.

State law mandates that customers must be at least 21 years old to purchase cannabis products. The dispensary will adhere to strict packaging regulations, ensuring all products are child-proof and free from marketing that could appeal to minors.

Cresco Labs anticipates hiring 25 to 30 employees for various roles, including full-time, part-time, and management positions. Additionally, there will be opportunities for local contractors and service providers, such as electricians and cleaners, to contribute to the dispensary’s establishment.

The introduction of this dispensary is expected to generate substantial tax revenue for the village, with 36% of the state’s 10% cannabis tax directed to local municipalities. This influx of funds could support community services, including law enforcement and education initiatives.

Cresco Labs is committed to being a responsible community partner, collaborating with local law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and the broader community. The company welcomes open discussions with local authorities to address any concerns and establish a positive relationship.

As marijuana use becomes more accepted across the country, Cresco Labs aims to contribute to this trend by providing a regulated, safe alternative to the illicit market, where products may pose health risks due to contamination.

Ficara noted that the legalization of cannabis in Ohio represents a significant shift in public perception, with many individuals opting for cannabis over alcohol or opioids for various reasons. Research has shown that cannabis can have fewer side effects than traditional pharmaceuticals, thus attracting more users seeking safer alternatives.

Cresco Labs looks forward to being a long-term member of the Bridgeport community and is excited about the positive impact this dispensary will have on local jobs and the economy. Updates on the construction progress will be available on Cresco’s website, sunnyside.shop, allowing residents to stay informed about the dispensary’s opening timeline.
