Colorado state officials announced a recall of pre-rolls and marijuana flower sold at approximately 40 dispensaries due to pesticide contamination. The products, produced by Verv LLC under the name Dadirri, exceeded state pesticide limits during subsequent testing.
The Marijuana Enforcement Division revealed that three specific products contained levels of chlorfenapyr, a pesticide not permitted in cannabis products. Although these batches initially passed safety tests, later evaluations prompted the recall.
Dadirri’s recall includes Caviar Creamsicle and Caviar Sherbert Pie flower, along with Strawberries N Cream pre-rolls, sold between April 24 and June 5. Affected batch numbers are 65088, 65090, and 65324. Consumers who purchased these products are advised to return them to the point of sale. Individuals who experience any health issues after consuming these items should seek medical assistance and inform the Marijuana Enforcement Division.
Company CEO Ashley Schriener stated that the contaminated THC distillate was sourced from another supplier before being infused into Dadirri’s products. This distillate had passed initial lab tests conducted by both the original producer and Dadirri. Schriener emphasized that this incident was unprecedented for the company, asserting that they acted swiftly upon receiving information from state officials.
In response to the contamination, Dadirri conducted additional testing on their products, which still met safety standards. Schriener did not disclose the name of the laboratory used for this testing but highlighted the company’s commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients and maintaining cleanliness in production. She expressed confidence in their product quality, stating, ‘The reason why we have stood the test of time is quality, and we’re going to move past this.’
As the investigation continues, state officials have not disclosed the total number of contaminated products distributed or when the contamination was first identified, citing confidentiality rules surrounding the state’s inventory tracking system. This recall emphasizes the need for strict adherence to safety regulations in the cannabis industry.
