Despite the strong public backing for medical marijuana, some state officials and law enforcement representatives continue to oppose legalization. In a recent letter, 15 sheriffs from various counties, including Douglas, Sarpy, and Lancaster, expressed their disapproval of potential medical cannabis legislation. Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers and Senator Pete Ricketts have also publicly opposed the regulation of medical cannabis, further complicating efforts to establish a legal framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
