Poll Reveals Majority of Maricopans Use Cannabis Weekly

A recent poll by InMaricopa shows that more than half of Maricopa residents buy cannabis products at least once a week. The survey, which included 1,353 local participants, found that 58% of respondents purchase cannabis-related items weekly. Additionally, about two-thirds reported visiting dispensaries at least once a month.

Feedback from Facebook users under the poll highlighted various reasons for cannabis use, particularly for health benefits. For example, Ben Hauge, a resident of Amarillo Creek, stated that he visits a dispensary monthly to purchase products to help manage pain from conditions such as arthritis, degenerative disc disease, and anxiety. Similarly, James Cochran from Hidden Valley mentioned that he buys gummies each month to assist with sleep and back pain.

Some residents noted the positive effects of cannabis on their families. Rancho El Dorado resident Chris Prine remarked that while he does not use cannabis himself, he has observed its benefits for others. He stated that it serves as a “great pain reliever” and helps with anxiety and insomnia, especially for those undergoing chemotherapy.

Others shared their experiences of using cannabis simply for enjoyment. Bobby Bruce, a resident of RED, noted that he has smoked daily since high school and feels “healthy as a horse and very happy.” On the other hand, Destiny Boone disclosed that she consumes an ounce of cannabis each week, which is significant considering a typical pre-roll contains one gram.

Despite the high usage rates, about one-third of poll participants reported that they do not use cannabis at all. Some, like Cynthia Kane, expressed strong opposition to cannabis use, stating, “Never have, never will. Got better things to do with my money.” Hidden Valley resident Teresa Rockwood echoed this sentiment, asserting, “Never in all my life. And I am NOT lying.”
