Arkansas medical marijuana sales exceed $121 million in 2025

Arkansas is approaching a new annual record for medical marijuana sales, having already surpassed $121 million through May 2025. This figure represents an increase of approximately $7.2 million compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).

In the first five months of 2025, medical marijuana dispensaries in Arkansas sold a total of 32,474 pounds of cannabis products, up from around 30,000 pounds during the same timeframe last year. The number of active medical marijuana patient cards also rose, reaching 109,854, marking a 12.8% increase from 97,374 at the start of 2024.

DFA spokesperson Scott Hardin reported that daily medical marijuana sales are averaging $806,000, positioning the state to potentially exceed the previous annual sales record of $283 million set in 2023.

However, the state’s medical marijuana industry faced a setback in April when Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders vetoed key legislation that aimed to: – Legalize drive-thru windows at dispensaries. – Simplify medical marijuana deliveries by reducing the number of required personnel in transport vehicles from two to one. – Allow tours of dispensaries.

These legislative changes were anticipated to boost sales and improve accessibility for patients. Despite the challenges, the increasing sales figures and patient registration indicate a growing acceptance and utilization of medical marijuana in Arkansas.
