MJ Berlin and Business of Cannabis have released the agenda for the first International Cannabis Business Day, scheduled for June 19, 2025, at Messe Berlin. This event is part of the broader Mary Jane Berlin festival and kicks off European Cannabis Week, featuring four distinct events in Berlin and London from June 19 to 25.
The conference is designed for international operators, investors, and policymakers, coinciding with Germany’s growth as Europe’s largest cannabis market. The day will open with a keynote address by Miguel Martin, CEO and Executive Chairman of Aurora Cannabis, who will highlight the day’s discussions. Following this, industry leaders will participate in a fireside chat before attendees split into two tracks of panels and workshops.
One of the initial sessions, titled ‘Expanding Beyond Borders,’ will feature Karan Wadhera of Casa Verde and regulatory expert Robert Jappie from Fieldfisher LLP. They will discuss strategies for establishing sustainable international cannabis operations amid the complex legal landscape in Europe. This session will run alongside an executive workshop led by Mitchell Osak of Quanta Consulting, focusing on market entry strategies for cannabis leaders.
As the retail landscape evolves, the session ‘The Future of Cannabis Retail’ will bring together Raj Grover, CEO of High Tide, NABIS co-founder Jun S. Lee, and Mitchell Osak to analyze emerging trends from North America and their adaptation to European markets, emphasizing experiential design and community engagement.
In the afternoon, the conference will tackle two pivotal market issues. A workshop led by Aleksandra Vujinović and Olivia Ewenike from the Cannabis Law Academy will explore opportunities in Germany’s new cannabis social club market. On the main stage, a panel discussion titled ‘Blurred Lines’ will investigate the convergence of medical and recreational cannabis markets, featuring insights from David Henn of Semdor Pharma Group, Lisa Haag of MJ UNIVERSE, medical operator Dr. Can Ansay, and artist Big Narstie.
Another session will analyze the structure of the German medical cannabis market, led by Pablo Zuanic of Zuanic & Associates. This session will focus on reimbursement models, pricing factors, and product segmentation, catering to investors and public sector officials interested in understanding Germany’s market dynamics.
The day will wrap up with a session called ‘Feeling the Pinch,’ discussing current pricing pressures in Germany’s medical cannabis sector. Key market figures, including Francesco Baganz of Remexian, Torstein Grief from Four 20 Pharma, Albert Schwarzmeier of enua, and regulatory expert Deepak Anand, will share their strategies for adapting to the evolving market conditions.
This inaugural event promises to deliver valuable insights and strategies for participants as they navigate the rapidly changing cannabis landscape in Europe.
