São Paulo will host the 4th Medical Cannabis Fair and the Brazilian Congress on Medicinal Cannabis from May 22 to 24, 2025, at Expo Center Norte. This event will showcase Brazil’s advancements in the cannabis sector, including scientific, economic, and technological developments.

New for 2025, the Agro Tech Cannabis Module will be held in collaboration with EMBRAPA (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation), a leading agribusiness research institution. This partnership aims to evaluate the economic, social, and environmental potential of cannabis and hemp cultivation in Brazil. Experts will discuss regulatory frameworks and sustainable agricultural practices.
To broaden access, the congress will be live-streamed, allowing health professionals, rural producers, and entrepreneurs from across Brazil to participate and access scientific and technical content.
On May 19, Brazil’s health regulatory agency ANVISA and the Ministry of Agriculture are expected to announce new regulations for cannabis cultivation. This development follows a recent decision by the Superior Court of Justice, which could position Brazil among over 60 countries that regulate cannabis for medicinal and industrial use. Experts suggest that cannabis, particularly industrial hemp, could become a highly profitable crop, with applications in textiles, cosmetics, food, construction, biofuels, and biodegradable plastics.
According to Kaya Mind’s 2024 report, Brazil’s cannabis production chain could generate more than R$26 billion annually, positively impacting healthcare, cosmetics, food, construction, and regenerative agriculture sectors.
CBD usage is rapidly growing in Brazil. The 3rd Brazilian Yearbook on Medicinal Cannabis states that over 672,000 patients are currently receiving cannabis-based treatments, reflecting a 56% increase from the previous year. CBD has been effective in treating conditions such as epilepsy, autism, chronic pain, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and anxiety disorders.
Industrial hemp, with its low THC concentration, is emerging as a sustainable alternative across various sectors. It requires less water and fewer pesticides, and its fibers can replace environmentally damaging raw materials, contributing to economic decarbonization and regenerative agricultural practices.
