HoneyStash opens Metuchen's first cannabis dispensary

HoneyStash is set to launch Metuchen’s first cannabis dispensary on May 17, located at 700 Middlesex Avenue in a repurposed bank building. This boutique dispensary, independently owned, plans to offer a selection of small-batch craft cannabis sourced from New Jersey’s independent cultivators.

The store’s location near the NJ Transit train station and across from the Middlesex Greenway makes it accessible for both commuters and local residents. The grand opening will feature a variety of activities, including live music, local food vendors, and cannabis education sessions.

HoneyStash aims to create a distinctive retail experience centered around quality, community engagement, and cultural appreciation. The team is committed to fostering a welcoming atmosphere with knowledgeable staff to assist customers in their wellness journeys.

Jeffrey Miller, CEO of HoneyProjects, which operates HoneyStash, expressed enthusiasm about the dispensary’s potential impact. “Our team has personally experienced the healing power of cannabis, and we’re dedicated to guiding our customers on their own wellness journeys with products we trust. We’re excited to welcome the community and look forward to supporting Metuchen’s sustainable growth,” Miller stated.

The Metuchen Downtown Alliance has expressed support for HoneyStash, recognizing its commitment to the local arts community. Executive Director Dawn Mackey noted that the dispensary not only serves cannabis consumers but also highlights local artists, fostering a collaborative environment for future projects.

Local officials have welcomed the opening as part of a broader effort to boost the borough’s economy. In 2022, the Metuchen Borough Council approved an ordinance allowing the establishment of cannabis businesses in designated areas. Mayor Jonathan Busch emphasized the positive economic impact, stating that the new dispensary will contribute to job creation and responsible consumer access.

Borough Council member Jason Delia highlighted HoneyStash’s alignment with Metuchen’s values: “By embracing an independent dispensary like HoneyStash, Metuchen continues to lead with innovation while staying true to our small-town values. HoneyStash’s appreciation for art and community makes it a perfect fit for our downtown.”

The grand opening festivities will commence with an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by performances from DJ Lord Sear and Sheik’s Garage, and food offerings from local vendors Sun Extractions and Garden Greens. New customers can also take advantage of a 20% discount during this event. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch artist Alex Lloyd create a mural inside the dispensary, along with viewing three exterior murals by Olga Muzician and an interior display by Jovon Dennis.

HoneyStash is more than just a dispensary; it embraces a holistic approach to cannabis culture, integrating art, wellness, and community engagement into its core mission.
