Authorities in Orange County arrested a 49-year-old man after uncovering over $8.4 million worth of illegal cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms. The operation, conducted by the Westminster Police Department in collaboration with the California Department of Cannabis Control, targeted an unlicensed cannabis delivery service.

During the investigation, law enforcement officials searched a location linked to the delivery service and discovered a substantial amount of illegal drugs. The findings included:

– Over $8.4 million in illegal cannabis – 643 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms valued at approximately $44,000 – 3,891 pounds of illegal vape cartridges – 1,505 pounds of illegal cannabis flower – 600 pounds of illegal cannabis edibles – 351 pounds of cannabis concentrate

On May 2, the suspect, identified as Kung Chau from Westminster, was charged with possession for sale of a controlled substance and possession for sale of marijuana. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Orange County Jail.

Chief Darin Lenyi of the Westminster Police Department emphasized the importance of this enforcement action in safeguarding the community from unregulated cannabis operations, which often distribute unsafe substances such as hallucinogenic mushrooms. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to be released as authorities continue their work.
