A 24-year-old woman from Texas, Christina C. Miranda, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle approximately 63 grams of cannabis into the Green Haven Correctional Facility located in Beekman, New York. According to New York State Police, Miranda was caught on Saturday, May 24, using her child as an unwitting accomplice in the smuggling operation.
Miranda has been charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from her alleged actions of concealing the cannabis on her child’s back as they approached the prison. This incident raises serious concerns about the safety and well-being of minors involved in such criminal activities.
Following her arrest, Miranda was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Beekman Town Court on Thursday, June 12, at 6:00 p.m. The case highlights ongoing issues related to drug smuggling and the lengths some individuals will go to bypass security measures.
Authorities continue to address the challenge of contraband entering correctional facilities, emphasizing the need for vigilance in monitoring visitors and their belongings. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential risks involved in using minors in illegal activities.
