Kent State Offers Cannabis Certification Courses with Green Flower

Kent State University in Ohio has partnered with Green Flower, an organization specializing in cannabis education, to launch a certification program aimed at preparing individuals for careers in the state’s expanding cannabis industry. This initiative responds to the rapid growth and complexity of the cannabis market, which is increasingly recognized for its economic potential.

Green Flower CEO Max Simon emphasized the importance of well-trained professionals in this competitive field. The collaboration, which started in January 2024, provides online courses that last approximately six months, covering various aspects of the cannabis industry, including business operations, healthcare applications, and agricultural practices.

As of now, 243 students have enrolled in the program, highlighting a strong interest in cannabis-related education. Simon noted that these certificate programs are essential for equipping Ohio’s burgeoning cannabis sector with skilled workers. He stated, “These programs lend credibility and offer a substantial opportunity for individuals to enter the industry.”

The cannabis market in Ohio is thriving, with non-medical marijuana sales nearing half a billion dollars since August 2024, according to the Division of Cannabis Control. This increase in sales underscores the demand for qualified personnel who can ensure product safety and compliance.

Simon further explained that the legal cannabis industry aims to provide tested and safe products. The presence of certified professionals contributes to a more reliable market, enhancing consumer confidence in cannabis offerings. The next round of classes is currently open for registration until Sunday. Interested individuals can find more information on Kent State’s website, making this a timely opportunity for those looking to enter the cannabis workforce.
