Thomas Edison State University Launches Cannabis Certificate Programs

Thomas Edison State University (TESU) is expanding its educational offerings in the cannabis field by partnering with Green Flower to introduce new certificate programs aimed at workforce development. This initiative includes three distinct nine-week, fully online certificate programs designed for individuals seeking careers in the cannabis industry.

The new programs focus on key areas of cannabis expertise:

1. Cannabis Cultivation Specialist: This program teaches best practices for growing cannabis, including environmental controls and operational techniques applicable to both indoor and outdoor facilities. Graduates will be prepared for careers in commercial cultivation.

2. Cannabis Retail Specialist: Participants will gain knowledge of the cannabis supply chain, compliance regulations, and retail operations. This training equips students for roles in dispensary management and customer service.

3. Cannabis Extraction & Product Development Specialist: This course emphasizes the science behind cannabis extraction and product formulation, covering oils, edibles, and topicals. Graduates will be well-prepared for careers in cannabis manufacturing and product innovation.

Dr. Merodie A. Hancock, the president of TESU, stated that the partnership with Green Flower allows the university to offer accessible education aligned with the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the cannabis sector.

Each program is taught by industry experts selected by Green Flower, ensuring that students receive practical training relevant to current market needs. Upon completion, graduates will earn a certificate from TESU and gain access to Green Flower’s employer network, which connects them with job opportunities across the industry.

Max Simon, CEO of Green Flower, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting that these specialized certificates will equip students with the necessary skills to secure positions and build careers in cannabis cultivation, retail, and product development.

Registration for the first cohort, which begins on June 2, is currently open. A limited-time discount of $150 is available for students using the code TESUFIRST. To learn more and enroll, interested individuals can visit cannabisworkforce.tesu.edu.
