Four New Jersey Students Hospitalized After Ingesting Cannabis Gummies

Four students from STEMCivics Charter School in Ewing, New Jersey, were hospitalized on Monday after they possibly ingested cannabis gummies, according to local police. The Ewing Police Department responded to the school shortly before 9 a.m. after receiving reports about the situation involving high school students.

Dr. Leigh Byron, the founder and head of STEMCivics, informed CBS News Philadelphia that one student provided the cannabis gummies to the other four. This student reportedly obtained the gummies from someone outside the school.

As a precaution, the four students were taken to local hospitals. Fortunately, they have since been released, and their parents reported that the students are doing well, according to Dr. Byron.

The investigation into the incident has been handed over to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency. At this point, it remains unclear if any charges will be filed.
