The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has announced the transfer of $23.3 million from the state’s adult-use cannabis program to various beneficiaries. This allocation is part of the Supplemental Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 and is aimed at supporting veterans and drug addiction treatment services.
Half of the funds, totaling approximately $11.65 million, will go to the Missouri Veterans Commission. This portion is dedicated to providing healthcare and other essential services for veterans and their families. The remaining funds will be directed to the Department of Health and Senior Services to establish a grant program designed to enhance access to drug addiction treatment.
The Missouri Veterans Commission will utilize its allocated funds exclusively for healthcare services and support for military veterans. Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Senior Services plans to use its share to improve access to drug addiction treatment and overdose prevention programs. This includes assistance with housing, job placement, and counseling services.
The distribution of cannabis revenue represents a significant step in Missouri’s efforts to directly benefit its citizens through targeted support services. More information about Missouri’s medical and adult-use marijuana programs can be found through official state resources.
