A driver was arrested last week on Interstate 580 near Dublin, California, after officers discovered over a ton of marijuana in a U-Haul truck involved in a crash. The incident occurred around 9:55 p.m. on March 26, when a two-vehicle collision prompted a response from the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Upon arriving at the scene, officers quickly noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the cargo area of the U-Haul. Investigators later found more than 2,000 pounds of marijuana packed in large black garbage bags, along with a suitcase containing $13,120 in cash. The driver, whose name has not been released, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession.
Captain Gerardo Serrato, commander of the CHP’s Dublin office, expressed pride in his officers’ dedication to community safety. He noted that illegal marijuana can lead to numerous problems in communities and commended the officers for their commitment to keeping the roads safe.
