Two men were arrested in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, following separate drug busts on Friday, according to officials from the Rocky Mount Police Department. These arrests were prompted by tips received from the public, which led to significant seizures of illegal substances and firearms.
The most significant operation occurred during a raid at a residence located in the 400 block of Hill Street. Officers executed a search warrant after receiving information regarding ongoing drug sales at the property. During the raid, police discovered 4,286.5 grams (9.4 pounds) of marijuana, 9.55 grams of crack cocaine, a Taurus G2c .40 caliber handgun, and $1,517.00 in cash. Telemachus Watson, 43, who resides at the home, was arrested and charged with several offenses, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession with intent to sell or deliver both marijuana and cocaine.
In a separate incident, another Rocky Mount resident, 37-year-old Robert Holden Walker, was apprehended after police received a tip suggesting he was trafficking marijuana. Officers stopped his vehicle as he left his home in the 100 block of Cunningham Drive. A search of the car yielded 581.55 grams (1.2 pounds) of marijuana, a handgun, and additional cash. Walker now faces multiple charges, including felony possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances.
Both men have been taken to the Nash County Jail, with Walker being held on a secured bond of $10,500, while Watson is being held without bond. Rocky Mount Police Captain Bunt stated that the success of these operations highlights the important collaboration between the police department and the community in addressing drug trafficking issues.
