Dublin CHP Officers Seize Over 2,000 Pounds of Cannabis from U-Haul After Crash

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers in the East Bay arrested the driver of a U-Haul rental box truck after seizing more than one ton of cannabis. This incident occurred following a crash on Interstate 580 last week.

The crash happened around 9:55 p.m. on March 26, on westbound I-580, just west of the Interstate 680 interchange. Upon arrival, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis coming from the truck’s cargo area. They discovered over 2,000 pounds of cannabis stored in multiple large black garbage bags, along with a suitcase containing $13,120 in cash.

Captain Gerardo Serrato commented on the situation, emphasizing the problems that illegal marijuana can cause in communities. He expressed pride in the Dublin Area officers for their commitment to public safety and their efforts in keeping the roads safe for everyone.

The CHP announced that the driver would face charges related to drug possession, but they did not disclose the driver’s identity.
