Oakland smoke shop shut down for unlicensed cannabis sales

Authorities have closed an Oakland smoke shop for selling marijuana and flavored tobacco without the necessary licenses. The Oakland Police Department conducted a raid last Thursday on a shop located in the 3500 block of International Boulevard. During the operation, officers confiscated both marijuana and flavored tobacco products.

Investigators discovered that the business was operating without the required permits to sell cannabis or tobacco products. As a result of the raid, one individual was cited for possession of a controlled substance, though authorities have not clarified whether this person owned the shop.

The case is now being forwarded to the district attorney’s office to assess the possibility of pursuing criminal and civil charges against the business and its operators. This incident highlights ongoing challenges in regulating the cannabis market and ensuring compliance with state laws.
