Former South Dakota Employee Charged with Medical Marijuana Card Forgery

A former employee of the South Dakota Department of Health, Alexandra Feiner, faces multiple felony charges for allegedly forging her medical marijuana card. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley announced the charges on Monday, which include four counts related to the falsification of her medical marijuana documentation.

Feiner, 24, is charged with the following offenses: 1. One felony count of Forgery, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. 2. One felony count of Offering a False or Forged Instrument for Filing, which can result in a maximum sentence of two years. 3. One felony count of Possession of a Forged Instrument, also punishable by up to two years in prison. 4. One misdemeanor count of Falsification of Public Records as a Public Officer or Employee, with a maximum jail sentence of one year.

The charges allege that Feiner circumvented the certification process required by medical providers and avoided paying the associated fees for her medical marijuana card. Attorney General Jackley stated, “The defendant is charged with using her position of trust as a Department of Health employee for her own personal benefit.”

The alleged offenses are reported to have occurred between March 2024 and March 2025. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) conducted the inquiry, with cooperation from the State Department of Health.

As of now, Feiner has not scheduled an initial court appearance and is presumed innocent until proven guilty under the U.S. Constitution.
