A 28-year-old man from Meriden, Marcus Acosta, faces serious drug charges after Bridgeport police discovered nearly 18 pounds of marijuana and a significant amount of cash in his vehicle on Thursday. The incident took place during a traffic stop on Greenfield Drive, where Acosta was pulled over due to motor vehicle violations and suspicious activity.
During the stop, while Acosta was providing his documentation, officers noticed a large quantity of marijuana and packaging materials in the back seat. A thorough search revealed 18.4 pounds of cannabis, $3,954 in cash, and two cell phones in the vehicle.
As a result of these findings, Acosta was charged with operating a drug factory and possession with intent to sell 1 kilogram or more of cannabis. He is currently being held on a bond of $250,000.
