Maryland's Office of Social Equity to Host Open Houses for Cannabis Licensees

The Maryland Office of Social Equity (OSE) is set to hold a series of Technical Assistance Open Houses aimed at promoting collaboration and gathering insights from social equity licensees in the state’s cannabis market. These sessions are scheduled for April 16 and April 30 and are designed to establish “essential feedback loops” between the OSE and the licensees, as stated by Executive Director Audrey Johnson.

Johnson highlighted that these open houses represent “a form of advocacy in action.” They provide an opportunity for the Office to “listen, learn and adjust” its programs to better align with the needs of social equity entrepreneurs. The sessions will also serve as a platform for licensees to connect, share their experiences, and learn about upcoming programs and funding opportunities.

Participation in these open houses is limited to Maryland social equity licensees. Johnson pointed out that these sessions are crucial for understanding the real needs of social equity entrepreneurs as they navigate the evolving cannabis market in Maryland. She emphasized that the open houses reflect the OSE’s commitment to responsive and adaptive support, aiming to elevate voices that have historically been excluded from the industry.
