The Mayor of Monticello, Kenny Catron, announced that a groundbreaking ceremony for the Centaurus Farms Medical Cannabis facility occurred on Monday afternoon. This event marks a significant milestone as it will be the first medical cannabis grow facility in Kentucky. The facility is set to be built in the Wayne County Industrial Park, located on Conley Bottom Road.
The project, which will require an investment of approximately $25 million, is expected to create around 100 jobs in the Lake Cumberland region. Mayor Catron emphasized the positive economic impact this facility will have on the local community.
Centaurus Farms, based in Colorado, aims to contribute to Kentucky’s growing medical cannabis industry. This development is part of a broader trend of expanding medical cannabis operations across the United States.
This initiative not only highlights Kentucky’s commitment to medical cannabis but also reflects the potential for job creation and economic growth within the state. As the facility progresses, it will be closely watched by those interested in the evolving cannabis landscape.
